The union workers at Fred Meyer expect the strike to last through Labor Day until September 3, 2024. The strike began following FTC hearings in relation to a merger between Albertsons and Kroger , Fred Meyer’s parent company, but the issues between the union and the employer were ramping up even before the details of the merger planted disharmony between them.
