U.S. banking behemoth Wells Fargo recently fired employees for faking keyboard activity to create the illusion of working without actively being at their desks. The staff members were fired for “mouse jiggling,” which refers to the use of technology to imitate activity that keeps the computer alert by mimicking a human presence. This ensures that any employee monitoring software does not pick up the fact that the employee is not actively using their device.
