64% of younger workers most value health cover as a benefit

Almost two thirds (64%) of younger workers said health cover is their most valued benefit , compared to 46% of those aged over 55, according to research by Simplyhealth. The health plan provider survey of 500 HR decision makers across UK businesses and 2,000 employees also found that 78% of younger respondents aged 18-34 said it is important that their employer provides health cover , with 71% claiming they would switch employers if it was not offered.

Two-fifths (43%) of employers are confident that they know how to support employees to achieve their financial goals , however, 60% of employees believe their employer is not interested in supporting them, according to research by Nudge Global. Its annual Financial wellbeing report, which surveyed more than 11,500 employees worldwide, also found that 27% of respondents said their financial wellbeing stops them feeling engaged and 31% said it stops them feeling motivated at work.

Barclays removes imposed cap on bonuses for some bankers

Banking organisation Barclays has removed a European Union (EU) imposed cap on bonuses for some of its bankers and traders. As part of this change, the bank’s material risk takers (MRTs) will be able to earn a bonus worth up to 10 times their base salary , an increase from a current ratio of 2:1. The 10:1 cap does not impact certain MRTs in the EU, who remain subject to EU 2:1 bonus cap rules.
