The luxury belief that was the so-called Great Resignation, appears to be over, even if you assume it ever existed. Workers are increasingly staying put in their current jobs and more employers are holding steady on staffing levels as the labour market slows, according to the CIPD’s latest Labour Market Outlook report. The survey shows more than half (55 percent) of employers are looking to maintain their current staff level – the highest level since winter 2016/17.

Of the 1.8 million employees who accessed healthcare services through health or protection insurance in 2022, 1.3 million (75%) relied on workplace-provided schemes to do so, according to research by the Association of British Insurers (ABI). Its Growing demand – increased use of health and protection services in 2022 report also found that almost 600,000 (87%) of the 700,000 people included in the research who used virtual GPs in 2022 did so through their employer’s scheme.

The Nike layoffs announcements from back in February will soon finish taking shape in June, as 740 employees from their World Headquarters in Oregon will be asked to leave. The company had announced a 2 percent reduction of the workforce, targeting a reduction of at least 1,600 employees over time. Nike’s layoffs within its workforce are part of a much larger cost-cutting strategy after their last annual report in December did not see profitable results to the degree the company had expected.

The Paternity Leave (Bereavement) Act 2024 has been passed into law to give working fathers and non-birthing partners automatic rights to immediate paternity leave if the mother dies.
