59% of British workers feel unhappy with their benefits packages

Almost six in 10 (59%) British workers feel unhappy, dissatisfied, highly dissatisfied or neutral with their benefits packages , according to new research. Conducted by global talent services firm Morgan McKinley as part of its 2024 Salary guide , the survey found that the top five desired benefits respondents look for in a job are working from home, bonus, pension, health insurance and flexible working hours.

Living wage rates rise to at least £12 an hour

The Living Wage Foundation has announced new living wage rates for London and across the UK in order to provide a cost-of-living pay boost. The foundation independently calculates the rates based on what people need to live on and applies to everyone over 18. This year the rate increased by 10% to reflect high costs for low-paid workers. The London rate rose by £1.20 to £13.15 an hour, while the UK-wide one increased by £1.10 to £12 an hour.
